Mexico City Lifts Ozone Environmental Contingency

The Environmental Commission of the Megalopolis (CAMe) has suspended the atmospheric environmental contingency for ozone and its measures as of 7:00 PM today. The commission explained that the anticyclone that has affected the region since the beginning of the week will lose intensity over the center of the country on Thursday; combined with the proximity of Cold Front #40, this will allow for greater humidity, a defined northern wind, and a drop in temperatures. It was stated that these conditions will allow for better ventilation and dispersion of pollutants, so maximum ozone concentrations are expected to be below the contingency values. The agency also added that, together with the Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources and the environmental authorities of Mexico City and the State of Mexico, it will remain attentive to the evolution of air quality and weather conditions. It was recalled that this Thursday, March 12, the 'Hoy No Circula' program will be applied normally.
